Freestyle Friday

It’s safe to say that E had a great birthday, other than when I made her wait for cake. See the hilarious proof here.   It’s also safe to say that she is a wee bit spoiled. Given she is the only grandchild on my side, she gets showered with gifts for birthdays and holidays. Among her gifts was a Doc McStuffin’s outfit, Frozen dolls, and a Fisher Price doll house. Good thing I had already boxed up some of her own toys in preparation for the festivities! Her favorite new toy is an adorable Pottery Barn Kids rocking cradle. Christmas gift alert!  I had her name put on it for $9.50 extra. So worth it! I also picked up this… Read More

Bringing Fashion to Your Home with Kate Spade (ShopStyle x CFDA Fashion Targets Breast Cancer)

*I was notified today 10/19 that several states have been added to the list of states that are not included in the promotion, including North Dakota. Please see details at the end of the post. I am very disappointed by this news. Today’s post combines a few of my favorite things – fashion, home decor and supporting a good cause. Today through Sunday, Oct. 23 I will be donating 10% of my net profit from my ShopStyle affiliate link sales to the CFDA’s Fashion Targets Breast Cancer campaign. While I am allowed to cap my donation, I have elected to maximize my contribution. With the proceeds from the campaign, the CFDA Foundation will provide meaningful help to women concerned about and/or diagnosed with breast… Read More

DIY: A Custom Birthday Party Dress

It is the most important day of the year in our household — E’s birthday! To celebrate, instead of our usual Freestyle Friday post, we’re sharing one of our favorite DIY projects — an affordable, custom party dress fit for a princess. I DIY’d a very similar dress for E’s first birthday last year. If E let’s me, I am going to do this every year for the foreseeable future. I love the results so much! It’s quick and easy, and looks straight out of an Etsy store. Here’s what you need: Party Dress (We used this dress from Old Navy) Iron On Transfer (We used Circuit Iron On in Glitter Gold, cheaper option here) Sharp Scissors (Find ours here) Permanent Marker Iron… Read More

Freestyle Friday + Basement Progress

I don’t know about you, but I am ready for the weekend! We are attending a Princess Party tomorrow and get to meet all the Disney princess in person. E can’t wait to wear her new Tinker Bell outfit from Target. Throughout the week, I’ve shown a few glimpses at our basement progress on social media. See here. This week was floor and tile week. We had a few “problem solving opportunities,” but everything turned out great in the end. I’m beyond happy with the results. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here our some progress pictures. Here it is at night, all complete. I’m loving the herringbone. I’m kind of disappointed they will be covering it… Read More
