Freestyle Friday + Basement Progress

I don’t know about you, but I am ready for the weekend! We are attending a Princess Party tomorrow and get to meet all the Disney princess in person. E can’t wait to wear her new Tinker Bell outfit from Target. Throughout the week, I’ve shown a few glimpses at our basement progress on social media. See here. This week was floor and tile week. We had a few “problem solving opportunities,” but everything turned out great in the end. I’m beyond happy with the results. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here our some progress pictures. Here it is at night, all complete. I’m loving the herringbone. I’m kind of disappointed they will be covering it… Read More

A High Contrast Black and White Bathroom Design

Whats black and white and gold all over? …Our future guest bathroom! I’ve already revealed the designs and finish selections for the playroom, bar and the guest bedroom, but until now I have only shared a single Instagram post hinting at whats going to happen in the basement bathroom. My virtual silence does not mean I’m not excited about it. The flooring from Cement Tile Shop we selected may be my favorite finishing detail I have ever picked. Check it out below. A Preview of the Guest Bedroom Bunkbeds

Our guest bedroom may be a problem. I think I’m going to have a hard time getting E to sleep in her own room after it’s complete. She is already talking about climbing the bunk bed and loves running into the tiny room under the stairs. It’s the bedroom of sleepover dreams! Before I get to the progress pictures, here is a refresher of our inspiration. Unlike our bar, the dimensions of the room in the inspiration picture are very close to our rooms. Even the window is in the same place.  Daren really has a thing for bunk beds so he is just as pumped as E. He’d like to have enough kids to have to put bunk beds… Read More

The Process of Designing Our Basement Bar + The Final Design

Since we do a lot of DIY and show off our work, people assume the design process and making decisions is easy for us. That is definitely not the case. I have said this before and I’ll say it again – decisions are hard! The struggle is real! We suffer from design indecisiveness with the best of them. Just ask the contractor working on our basement! Sorry Jason!   With Pinterest, Houzz and Instagram it can be easy to get a wee bit over inspired. I see dozens of pictures, if not more, of rooms I would love to transplant into my own house everyday. When it comes to designing a room, it can be hard for us to focus on one style.… Read More
