Freestyle Friday + Basement Progress

I don’t know about you, but I am ready for the weekend! We are attending a Princess Party tomorrow and get to meet all the Disney princess in person. E can’t wait to wear her new Tinker Bell outfit from Target.

Throughout the week, I’ve shown a few glimpses at our basement progress on social media. See here. This week was floor and tile week. We had a few “problem solving opportunities,” but everything turned out great in the end. I’m beyond happy with the results. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here our some progress pictures.

Here it is at night, all complete. I’m loving the herringbone. I’m kind of disappointed they will be covering it with paper soon to protect it from getting damaged during the remainder of the build. It’s just so pretty to look at!

It is E’s 2nd birthday next Friday and I am completely unprepared. I am in total denial that my baby is turning two. I did manage to order this cradle from Pottery Barn Kids. She loves to play Mommy and is always trying to put them to bed in her crib during the day, so I think she is going to be beyond excited!

Now I just need to order a cake!!! I’m guessing these cakes would cost a gagillion dollars or take days to complete, but how amazing are these Frozen cakes? Any of one of these would make all of E’s princess dreams come true.

Why I Changed My Mind About Vinyl Flooring
Freestyle Friday (Four Things I've Learned in Four Years of Marriage)
  • Jill Ihry

Is the bathroom floor or wood floor going to be cold?

    • Pretty Domesticated

Hi Jill! Yes, the floors will likely be a bit cold and we do not have in-floor heat, We plan to layer with rugs and the bedroom will be carpeted. The herringbone floor is actually LVT (vinyl tile) and the bathroom is cement tiles. We chose them because they are both waterproof. In the event our basement floods, which seems to be common in our area, we would not need to replace our floors. I’ll keep everyone updated on how cold they feel on our feet. They don’t feel noticeably cold now, but we are not actively using either room.
